Hybrid poplars were planted on three sandy plots, in cooperation with Zhaogen Gacha (village) and Bianjie Gacha in Bahuta Sumu in 2014. In 2019, the survival rate of 2014-3 is 65.56%, which maintains on a rather high level, and gradually declining a bit in recent three years. There is replanting in the site, but it doesn’t make much difference. The average height of 2014-3 forest site shows a sign of bushes taking over.
A view of vegetation recovery under the dune in the forest site, taken on August 10, 2019
In recent years, local farmers come to graze on this site more frequently, so the trees are affected by animal gnawing trees. The general survival status of forest is normal, but differences between different areas are becoming apparent. Some trees have problems of turning into bushes. Dunes are fixed, no sign of moving. The vegetation recovery under the dunes is going well.
