According to local climate condition and hydrologic regime, we choose to plant a mix of shrubs and grass on the straw girds constructed to control sand movements. In every forest, we need to plant four times to make sure there could be more than 180 shrubs survived per Mu.

Until November 30th 2019,we have finished the construction of straw grids and sown seeds of Caragana Korshinskii Kom and Hedysarum scoparium in the straw grids in the raining season. The planting density is two meter by one meter, which means 200 to 300 grids per Mu have been sown seeds in. In addition, 1kg Artemisia ordosica seeds have been broadcasted per Mu. One worker can do about 300 squares per day. It took approximately 40 workers around 50 days to finish the work.

During March or April 2020, we will plant one-year-old bare root seedlings of Caragana Korshinskii Kom and Hedysarum scoparium and plant Calligonum mongolicum cuttings in the grids where seeds fail to germinate.

In August 2020, we will plant more bare root or container seedlings of Caragana Korshinskii Kom and Hedysarum scoparium if necessary, and also with some Artemisia ordosica seeds broadcasting.

And the fourth round of planting will be carried out in November 2020 if needed.
