The Million Tree Project

西北的烈日没有树荫，万里的荒野野草遍地。2024年8月，6位来自天南海北的志愿者汇集到宁夏白芨滩国家级自然保护区，与百万植树计划团队一起，开展一年一度的宁夏林地调查。
In the northwest regions of China, there is no much shade to shield you from the scorching rays of the sun. Countless weeds stretch far and wide in this vast area. Despite this, in August 2024, six volunteers gathered in the Baijitan National Nature Reserve in Ningxia and, with the Million Tree Project team, carried out the annual Ningxia Forest Survey.

也许是厌烦了城市的燥热，也许是向往旷野的绿色，2024年夏天的内蒙古格外热闹。7月20日至27日，8位志愿者携手百万植树计划项目团队来到内蒙古通辽市科尔沁左翼后旗，开展为期一周的林地生态调查。

Some people may be tired of the heat of the city, and some are yearning for the green of the wilderness. A variety of reasons brought them together for a few days in Inner Mongolia during summertime. From July 20th to 27th, eight volunteers and the Million Tree Project team went to Horqin Zuoyi Houqi in Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia to carry out a week-long forest ecological survey.

2024年百万植树计划造林在内蒙古通辽市科尔沁左翼后旗常胜镇开展。该年林地的造林地总面积为1206亩。林地归当地农户所有。

The Million Tree Project 2024 forest is located at Changsheng Town, Horqin Zuoyi Houqi, Tongliao, Inner Mongolia. The total area of trees planted on this plot is 80.4 hectares, owned by local farmers.

2023年10-11月，MTP项目组计划对2007-2023年期间栽植的林地逐一进行了抽样调查，但由于暴雪影响，在2023年度仅完成了部分林地的抽样调查，历时14天，测量林地20块，样地106个，总计测量林木3261棵。测量比例占林木总数量的0.11%。

During October and November in 2023, MTP team had planed to conduct forest survey in the forest which we planted from 2007 to 2023. But due to the heavy snow, our team had only completed the forest survey in a few forests. The survey, which took 14 days, covered 20 forest plots, 106 sample sites and 3261 sample trees. The survey ratio was 0.11% among total number of the trees planted by MTP.

2023年，百万植树计划宁夏项目继续与灵武市白芨滩防沙林场合作，共得到14家林地赞助商的支持，在白芨滩保护区内总计治沙一千三百亩，栽植各类灌木共二十六万余株。

Supported by 14 forest sponsors, the Million Tree Project continued its desert control efforts to work with Baijitan Tree Farm in 2023. Another 260,000 shrubs have been planted, covering a total area of 86.7 hectares in Baijitan Nature Reserve.

长臂猿是全世界最濒危的灵长类动物之一，我国野外目前仅存5种长臂猿。在国际长臂猿日之际，上海根与芽与上海动物园、南宁动物园一起合作举办“我给长臂猿做玩具”系列活动，邀请学生和公众学习和了解长臂猿保护相关知识，给长臂猿做丰容玩具，为保护长臂猿尽一份力量。

Gibbons are one of the most endangered species in the world. Only five gibbon species are left in the wild in China, and all of them are facing devastating threats. To celebrate the International Gibbon Day, Shanghai Roots & Shoots, Shanghai Zoo and Nanning Zoo collaborated together organizing the Making Toy for Gibbon series educational events, to raise the awareness about the gibbons and conservation work.

在2023年国际长臂猿日来临之际，上海根与芽与上海辰山植物园一起结合植物园与栖息地共有的植物在植物园内开展科普教育，通过形式多样的活动让大家关注长臂猿栖息地的恢复工作。

Shanghai Roots & Shoots and Shanghai Chenshan Botanic Garden together held an International Gibbon Day event. A variety of the event sessions focus on environmental education to raise the awareness of the habitat restoration for the gibbons.
