How to plant Hemiptelea davidii
Hemiptelea davidii (Hance) Planch.
Hemiptelea davidii is a local species found widely across China. It has high drought resistance capability, and thus can be planted to fix the sandy land. The plant is thorny and fast-growing.
Use container seedlings ( 1+ year old) , which have growing in the container for at least six month and have well developed root system.
Irrigation before planting
Before the seedlings are removed from nursery, they shall be irrigated thoroughly, so the soil within the container is moist and won't easily fall apart.
Plant in spring and rain season
Planting before the spring growth period or after the rain season growth period can ensure better survival rate.
Spacing for tree planting
Make sure the tree rows are straignt and leaving enough space in between.
DO NOT use shovels as pry bars. It will break the shovels and hurt yourself.
While transporting the seedlings, try to keep the soils from scatting into fragments.
If not to be planted soon, seedlings shall be false planted to avoid roots exposed to air.
