抵抗荒漠化
Fight Desertification
如果缺乏植被的保护，土壤就会快速失去植物层和营养成分。种植乔木或灌木、扎草方格能够保持土壤湿度，固定沙地，降低风速，减轻风蚀和沙尘暴。同事也可以缓解土地盐碱化、土壤退化等。
Without the protection of plants, land will quickly lose its vegetative cover and nutrients. Planting trees or shrubs, along with constructing straw grids, helps to retain soil moisture, fix sand, slow down wind speed, and reduce erosion and dust storms. It can also alleviate soil salinization and degradation, making the land fertile once again.

减少空气污染

每个人的日常生活如开车、开灯等都会产生碳足迹，因为每个人都有义务减少或抵消自己的碳排放。参与百万植树计划可以抵消碳足迹，因为树木可以捕获碳并缓解全球气候变暖。植物也可以净化我们呼吸的空气，减少空气污染。
Everyone has an individual carbon footprint, generated by everyday activities from driving a car to turning on the lights, and a social responsibility to try their best to reduce or offset that carbon involvement. Getting involved with the Million Tree Project can help offset your carbon footprint, since plants can sequester carbon, taking it out of the atmosphere and combating global warming in the process. Plants also remove dust and other pollutants from the air we breathe, helping to alleviate air pollution.

践行企业的社会责任
Exercise Corporate Social Responsibility
相比于个人，企业对于气候变化要承担更多的责任，比如飞机出行和生产商品都会加速气候变化。近年来，很多企业意识到要承担社会责任、减少抵消碳排放。参加百万植树计划可以释放企业关心环境保护的强烈信号。企业赞助商可以收到企业林的林地坐标、报告以及照片。
Corporations contribute much more to climate change than individuals, because of activities like air travel or manufacturing. In recent years many corporations have started to recognize their social responsibility to both reduce and offset their emissions. Choosing to offset excess emissions through the Million Tree Project sends a strong message that this enterprise cares about environmental protection. Our corporate sponsors receive GPS coordinates, planting reports, and progress photos for their company forests.

植物可以给79%的陆地生物提供庇护所和栖息地。当土壤变成沙地的时候，干燥的沙层会妨碍动植物的生长和生态系统的维持。植树能够为许多动植物提供树荫、食物和栖息地。
Plants provide shelter and habitat for 79% of land species. When soil turns to sand, the dry and sandy layer prevents new life from growing and sustaining ecosystems. Tree-planting provides shade, food sources, and habitats for millions of plant and animal species.

Support Local Communities
百万植树计划可以帮助当地农民保护家园并改善生活环境。荒漠化是中国北方引起贫困的原因之一。环境恶化会导致粮食产量下降、水质下降以及灌溉成本上升。同时，频繁发生的沙尘暴带走了肥沃的表土，使得沙尘不断摧毁农作物。荒漠化还造成了村庄的消失，迫使村民移民到其他的城市里。
The MTP can help local people preserve their communities and improve their living environments. Desertification is one of the causes of poverty in northern China. Environmental degradation would cause reduced crop yields and grassland productivity, diminished water quality, and an increased cost of irrigation. In addition, a rising frequency of dust storms has removed the fertile topsoil, while sand continually blasts the crops. Furthermore, desertification leads to displacement of communities, who must flee their homes and migrate to cities.

捐赠企业林
Sponsor a company forest
捐赠2000棵树（25元/棵）或5000株灌木（10元/棵）能够形成一片由公司命名的颇具规模的林地。这能够向员工和客户表明公司关心可持续发展并努力抵消碳排放。公司每年会收到GPS坐标和林地报告，观测到企业林的变化。

A donation of 2,000 trees (25RMB/tree) or 5,000 shrubs (10RMB/shrub) will lead to the creation of a large, healthy forest named after your company. This sends employees and clients the message that your company cares about sustainability and offsetting its carbon emission. With our GPS technology and annual forest reports, you will be able to tangibly view year-to-year changes of your company forest.

如果企业捐赠了50000元（2000棵树或5000株灌木），我们将会邀请企业邀功参加在内蒙古和宁夏的植树行。员工将在专业人员的指导下，和当地农民合作亲手植树。了解更多

If your company hits the 50,000RMB benchmark of 2,000 trees or 5,000 shrubs, we invite your employees to participate in our annual planting trips to Inner Mongolia and Ningxia. There you will have an unforgettable opportunity to engage in hands-on planting with direction from our forestry staff and in collaboration with local farmers. Learn more

在每年世界地球日学校都会举办拍卖会，学生自己画一幅画，让父母在教室里拍卖，最后善款的很大一部分会捐给根与芽用于绿化项目。我相信每一次的相遇都不是偶然，有善因才会有善果。马上就是世界地球日了，希望我们这次的植树活动能给地球母亲添一点绿色！

一路上最大的感受就是我们要敬畏大自然。破坏植被可能只需要很短的时间，但是恢复生态环境需要的是几年、十几年的不懈努力。这几天根与芽的工作人员一直建议我们自己带筷子用餐，拒绝一次性筷子---这真的是个好习惯，我们回去之后也要保持。环保不只是这几天的植树，还有生活中的点点滴滴：少叫外卖、随手捡垃圾、少用拒绝一次性的东西等等。
